At $8.99 MSRP, this is an honest material choice, not a deceptive one. The four rubber pads on the base are firm and grippy, and after six months on a standard laminate desk surface they leave no marks. The ventilated holes punched into the 14.6 x 9.3-inch platform do allow air circulation for a laptop placed directly on the surface - relevant if your MacBook Pro M3 throttles on a solid surface. Under a 30 lb monitor, the platform shows a small amount of visible flex at the center. It won't crack or collapse, but it communicates its price bracket clearly.
Comfort and Ergonomics
The three available heights - 4.5, 5.3, and 6.1 inches - translate to meaningful screen position changes. Starting from a standard 29-inch-tall desk, a 27-inch monitor with a 4-inch stand already puts the screen center at roughly eye level for a 5'8" person seated in a standard 18-inch chair. Adding 4.5 inches of riser brings the screen up to a range that reduces neck flexion for most adults in that height bracket. The 6.1-inch option works well for taller users - roughly 6'0" to 6'2" - seated in a higher task chair. What the stand cannot do is give you the incremental 0.3-inch adjustment that turns "pretty good" into "exactly right." If you already use a monitor arm or a VESA-mounted display, this riser adds zero value.
Adjustability
Height changes require physically lifting the monitor off the platform, pulling out the leg inserts, re-inserting them at a different height peg, and replacing the monitor. The Huanuo HNMS1 fixed riser runs $18.99 and adds a drawer, which is useful if you need small item storage but irrelevant if you don't. The WALI is not the best monitor riser on the market. It is the cheapest monitor riser that does the job without embarrassing itself, and for a secondary desk, a child's homework station, or a home office on a strict budget, that is a meaningful product category to occupy. The 44 lb weight capacity removes the only legitimate technical concern at this price - you will not outload this stand with a consumer display in 2026.
